A FAMILY AFFAIR:
The Pollard’s Chicken legacy started in February of 1967 when my father, Clyde W. Pollard, my brother Robert and I opened “Pollard’s Chicken Ranch” in Norfolk, VA. Two years later, we dropped the “Ranch” from our name and became what you know us as - Pollard’s Chicken! Our business has always been family-oriented; my sisters Peggy and Elizabeth began helping out as soon as they were old enough to work. My sister Betty Ann Gravely and I now own the business, overseeing nine locations in Hampton Roads.
Pollard’s Catering was actually started in Elizabeth C. Pollard’s kitchen in 1953 (then called Betty Pollard’s Catering). My mother was dedicated to serving those around her quality food, and we have incorporated what started in our home to our business, offering full-service catering for events, luncheons, BBQ’s, corporate outings, and more.
Pollard’s Key Facts:
- We use only the freshest chicken, specially marinated for great flavor. Our specialty is chicken – dark meat, white meat, livers, gizzards, tenders, boneless chicken breasts, & more.
- Pollard’s has been voted the “Best of Hampton Roads” Gold Winner for Fried Chicken by The Virginian-Pilot readers for 21 years straight. We’ve also won Gracious Living’s Taste Test as the “Best Fried Chicken” (2011).
- Philanthropy is important to Pollard’s, so we have dedicated our support to the American Cancer Society for over 20 years. Pollard’s Catering provides the free buffet for all cancer survivors who attend the “Relay for Life” walks in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Portsmouth. We serve 2,000-3,000 each year at these rallies.
For decades, Pollard’s has been offering quality home-style food at reasonable prices in Hampton Roads, with locations in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Portsmouth. As we round out our 50th year of business – that’s right, 50 YEARS – we are so grateful for our loyal customers here in Tidewater.
Thank you for all the years of business,
